Review #40931

Headphones: Soundcore P20i
Rating: Good (4 out of 5)
Date:

Advantages of the headphones:
Unbeatable Value: They are incredibly affordable (often found under $25/£20), making them a low-risk purchase if you are prone to losing or damaging your earbuds. Impressive Battery Life: You get up to 10 hours of playtime on a single charge, and up to 30 hours total with the charging case. They also support fast charging (a quick 10-minute charge gives you about 2 hours of playback).Heavy, Punchy Bass: Equipped with 10mm drivers, these buds pack a massive punch in the low-end. If you love hip-hop, EDM, or aggressive workout music, you will love the default sound profile. Companion App Support: Unlike many ultra-budget earbuds, the P20i connects to the excellent Soundcore app. This gives you access to 22 EQ presets, a low-latency "Gaming Mode," and the ability to customize the touch controls. Secure, Comfortable Fit: They feature an ergonomic stem design with three sizes of silicone ear tips. They stay securely in your ears during workouts, running, or skateboarding. Water-Resistant: With an IPX5 rating, they can easily handle sweat and sudden rain showers. Strong Magnetic Case: The case magnets hold the earbuds tightly. If you drop the case, the buds are highly unlikely to pop out and roll away.

Disadvantages of the headphones:
No Active Noise Cancellation (ANC): They do not have ANC to block out train, traffic, or loud background noise. They rely purely on passive noise isolation (how well the silicone tips seal your ear canal). Muddled Mid-Range & Treble: Because the bass is so dominant, the mids and highs take a backseat. Instruments can sound a bit muddy, and female vocals or acoustic tracks lack crisp detail and "sparkle." Subpar Microphone for Calls: While they use "AI-enhanced" dual mics to filter out background noise, call quality is mediocre. Your voice might sound distant, muffled, or slightly robotic in windy or noisy environments. No Multipoint Bluetooth: You cannot connect them to two devices at the same time (like your phone and your laptop). You have to manually disconnect from one to pair with the other. No Wear Detection: The music will not automatically pause when you take an earbud out of your ear; you have to pause it manually. Basic Case Indicator: The charging case only has a single flashing LED light rather than a battery percentage indicator, making it hard to tell exactly how much battery is left in the case.
