  • We will play a series of tones at different frequencies. For each one, indicate whether you can hear it.
  • We will play a series of low bass tones. For each one, indicate whether you can hear it.
  • A continuous tone will sweep from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Listen for any drops, distortion, or dead spots during the sweep.
  • How did the sweep sound?
  • A tone will alternate between left and right ears at the same volume. Listen carefully and indicate if the volume is balanced.
  • How did the volume compare between ears?
  • Playing on the wrong device? To see all your headphones and speakers, allow microphone access. This is a browser restriction — we won't use your microphone, but it's required to list audio devices.

Test Your Headphones Online — Free & Instant

Need to test headphones before an important call, gaming session, or music listening? Our free headphone test online tool runs a comprehensive headphone audio test that evaluates stereo channels, frequency response, bass reproduction, frequency sweep, and volume balance — all from your browser in just a few minutes.

Whether you want to test your headphones after buying a new pair, troubleshoot audio issues, or compare models before a purchase, our headphone sound test gives you a complete performance analysis. Select your device, follow the step-by-step wizard, and get detailed results.

How to Test Your Headphones

  1. Select your headphone device from the list of detected audio outputs and press “Start Headphone Test”.
  2. Stop all media playback and select your age range to account for natural hearing limits.
  3. Complete the volume calibration — a tone gradually gets louder; click when you first hear it.
  4. Follow the guided tests: left/right channel, frequency range, bass response, frequency sweep, and volume balance.
  5. Review your complete headphone audio test results and optionally leave a review.

What Our Headphone Sound Test Covers

  1. Stereo Channel Test — Plays tones in the left ear, right ear, and both separately to verify correct audio routing.
  2. Frequency Range Test — Plays pure tones from 20 Hz to 20 kHz to determine the full range your headphones can reproduce.
  3. Bass Response Test — Evaluates low-frequency performance down to 20 Hz, revealing how well your headphones handle deep bass.
  4. Frequency Sweep Test — A continuous sweep from 20 Hz to 20 kHz helps detect dips, distortions, or dead zones.
  5. Volume Balance Test — Alternates tones between left and right to check if the sound level is equal in both ears.

Test All Headphone Types & Connections

Our headphone test works with every type of audio device:

  • Test earphones — in-ear monitors (IEMs) and earphones that came bundled with your phone.
  • Test earbuds — true wireless earbuds like AirPods, Galaxy Buds, and similar TWS models.
  • Test headphones — over-ear and on-ear headphones from brands like Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, and others.
  • Test Bluetooth headphones — wireless Bluetooth headphones, earbuds, and AirPods of all types.
  • Test wired headphones — USB headphones, 3.5mm jack headphones, and other wired connections.
  • Test speakers — built-in laptop speakers, desktop speakers, and external monitors with audio output.

No matter which device you use, our online headphone test detects it automatically. If your device doesn’t appear in the list, click “Allow Access” to grant microphone permission — this is a browser requirement for listing audio devices and we won’t use your microphone.

Why Leave a Review?

After you test your headphones, you can leave a review with your results. This is optional, but helps others compare headphone models and avoid poor choices. Your test data is attached automatically, and you’ll see how your headphones rank against other tested models.
